About Indiana Wall Systems
Indiana Wall Systems has been in the E.I.F.S. (Exterior insulation finishing system) business for 22 years with 160 years of combined experience. We have designed and worked on projects ranging from 300,000 square foot commercial units to small residential repairs and restorations in and around Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Tenn, MI, and ILL. We are certified to apply and inspect every product we use, every E.I.F.S. product sold inside the U.S. and pay close attention to new forthcoming product detail recommendations and ever-changing manufacturer specifications and industry standards. Here at Indiana Wall Systems, we work very closely with many members of our industry to insure quality, absolute and accurate performance as well as safety and OSHA compliance.
Where EIFS Really Fails – And How We Fix It
After years of inspections, we’ve learned that most EIFS problems don’t start in the middle of a wall – they start at the details. On every EIFS inspection, we look closely at window and door perimeters, lower terminations, and every point where EIFS meets a roof, deck, or porch roof. Older work in these areas often skipped proper wrapping, slope, or long-lasting sealants. Those are the places where water slips in behind the system and quietly causes damage that may not show up inside the house for years. This is the same level of detail we bring to every EIFS repair we perform.
A common hidden troublemaker is the EIFS accent band above windows and doors. Those ledges are supposed to have a 6–12 degree pitch so water runs off. When they’re built flat, water sits, soaks through the finish and base coat, and eventually shows up as a “window leak.” Our repair process is to rasp and reshape the ledge, bond it, rebuild the correct slope, and apply high-performance base coats such as BASF/Master Builders Solutions Xtrastop or Dryvit Dryflex, with double mesh reinforcement for extra hail resistance. We then replace old urethane caulk with 100% silicone EIFS sealants so the system stays properly sealed for years.
Follow-Up Inspections That Actually Happen
On major EIFS and stucco projects, we don’t disappear once the scaffolding comes down. We schedule follow-up inspections at 30 days, 1 year, 3 years, and 10 years after completion. At each visit, we walk the building, check critical details like window and door perimeters, terminations, and sealant joints, and correct any early movement or minor issues before they become bigger problems. Many clients are genuinely surprised to see us back on site a decade later, but that is how we make sure the system is still performing the way it was designed.
Cold-Weather Work Done the Right Way
We also work through Indiana’s winter season without cutting corners. On cold-weather jobs, we tent and heat the work area so the substrate, air, and materials stay within the manufacturer’s temperature range. Base coats, finishes, and sealants are allowed to cure completely before we remove the protection, and we verify that every surface is dry before we leave. If we cannot maintain those conditions, we simply do not apply material. That approach prevents the cold-weather failures that often show up later as peeling, cracking, or delamination.
Traditional & Historic Plaster Restoration
Indiana Wall Systems also repairs conventional and traditional plasters used in historic interiors. We use only the exact materials and methods to repair historic plaster, ensuring a proper fix that is sure to last another one hundred years. Our services include, but are not limited to, gypsum plaster, Italian plaster, traditional white-coat plasters, cementitious interior and exterior plasters, decorative and specialty plasters, molds, and detail plasters, as well as all of the EIFS exterior and synthetic applications. Our work is insured, carefully planned, and quickly executed in a cost-effective manner.
All of our customers are 100% satisfied before a project earns the status of complete.
Indiana Wall Systems uses the correct mixes, combined with the exact methods of application, to repair the older plasters. We never substitute “drywall” or its components to re-surface, re-place, or repair historic plaster.
All of our mixes are hand mixed on-site with the original isolated dry components and the correct amount of water and sand to ensure a wall that meets or exceeds the specifications of yesteryear. Interior plaster is always an art. The fine attention to detail found on some of Indiana’s interiors is second to none in the country. “Plaster is expensive” is a MYTH. Most of the time, our estimate is well below what a drywall contractor was going to charge to completely ruin the character and historic value of a home. By the time we look into re-facing the wall, the house has usually settled everywhere it can, leaving us with the perfect canvas for a simple bonding agent and a new finish coat that will not go through the same settling process your home has already endured. We always use the original limes and gauging gypsum plasters.
We are fully insured to commercial standards, and we are not opposed to surety bonds where needed. We carry adequate Indiana Workers’ Comp for each and every member of our company. We actively educate safety awareness to all our people through OSHA certifications as well as BuSet (Bureau of Safety Education and Training) and other forms of training and awareness programs offered through the Indiana Department of Labor.
We have a very fair approach to our direct business transactions and our work ethic. We believe everyone has a right to venture into small business, with the successful results thereof, leaning more towards the correct, fair, professional choices made in that venture.
We have a well-seasoned, well-trained, problem-solving staff, who will go out of their way to please our customers in every situation. We have staff on hand 6 to 6 weekdays and 7 to 5 Sat–Sun with 24/7 response on active retail spaces. We carefully monitor every project from start to finish and take all necessary steps to establish and maintain a clear channel of communication with our customers throughout the duration of every project.
EIFS Walls: The Future of Building Exteriors
Revolutionizing construction with energy efficiency, durability, and design flexibility
Energy Efficiency
Reduces energy consumption by up to 20-30% through superior insulation and elimination of thermal bridging.
Provides a continuous layer of insulation, making it one of the most effective systems for reducing heating and cooling costs.
Durability
With proper maintenance, EIFS can last over 50 years.
Its multi-layered structure resists impacts, cracking, and weathering better than traditional siding options.
Moisture Management
Features an advanced drainage system that effectively channels water away from the building.
Reduces the risk of mold, mildew, and structural damage, especially beneficial in climates with high humidity or frequent rain.
Fire Resistance
Highly fire-resistant, with certain systems achieving fire ratings of up to two hours.
Meets stringent fire safety codes for both residential and commercial buildings.
Acoustic Insulation
Reduces outside noise by up to 25 decibels.
Creates quieter and more comfortable indoor spaces, ideal for buildings in noisy urban environments.
Lightweight Yet Strong
Adds significant structural strength while being lightweight.
Its flexibility and impact resistance reduce maintenance costs over time.
Design Flexibility
Can be molded into virtually any architectural design, allowing for intricate details and custom finishes.
Preferred choice for architects looking to create visually striking and unique building facades.
Improved Indoor Air Quality
EIFS systems often incorporate materials that resist mold and mildew growth.
By preventing moisture penetration, EIFS helps maintain healthier indoor air quality, particularly important in residential buildings.
Cost-Effective Installation
Often more cost-effective to install than other exterior cladding systems.
Its lightweight nature reduces the need for additional structural support, lowering material and labor costs during construction.
